Monastery of Batalha
The Dominican Monastery of Batalha, built by King João I, in fulfilment of a vow to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385, is one of the great masterpieces of Gothic art, with Manueline influences, which belongs today to the UNESCO World Heritage.
